I think we can all agree that when hosting guests, it’s a whole lot easier to set out a nice cheese spread than to prepare an array of individual hors d’oeuvres. However, the cheese board has become very tired and unexciting (to me at least). It can also get very expensive very quickly. Cue the burrata board.

Sure it involves some cooking, but a very minimal amount! And it can be executed with the purchase of only 1 cheese (a burrata), a loaf of bread (which is far cheaper than fancy crackers), cherry tomatoes, pesto (store bought is FINE but like… pesto isn’t hard you guys), and some prosciutto!

To me, this looks far more impressive and far more expensive (even though it’s not) than a traditional cheese board. Not to mention it screams summer. And yes, I understand that arranging burrata and bread on a cutting board isn’t rocket science and probably doesn’t require a recipe, BUT it’s serving major Pinterest inspo vibes so leave me alone.

Burrata Board with Prosciutto and Roasted Cherry Tomatoes

Cook Time:33 mins
yields:4 SERVES

Ingredients

  • 1 large ball of burrata or 2 small, brought to room temperature
  • ½ boule sour dough bread or any crusty loaf, sliced
  • 1 carton cherry tomatoes halved
  • 2 tbsp pesto linked below
  • ¼ cup fresh basil for garnish
  • 4 oz prosciutto brought to room temp
  • 1 handful roasted pine nuts roughly chopped, pistachios or walnuts will also work
  • 2 tbsp olive oil plus more for serving
  • flaky salt for serving
  • fresh cracked pepper for serving

Instructions

  1. First, remove the burrata and the prosciutto from their containers and allow them to sit out at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Roast the Tomatoes
  1. Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes on a sheet tray, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast in the oven at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until softened. You could definitely leave these raw if you don’t have time. However, roasting them really intensifies their flavor, and they’ll be easier to eat that way. A good sub is marinated roasted red peppers.
Toast the Bread
  1. For toasting the bread, my preferred method is to drizzle with olive oil and grill each slice for 3 minutes per side. The grill marks add a charred flavor and look really pretty. You could also arrange the slices on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and toast in the oven for about 5-10 minutes while your tomatoes cook.
Assemble
  1. To assemble, place the burrata at the focal point of your board. Arrange the prosciutto and the roasted tomatoes toward the front and the toasted bread towards the back.
  2. Spoon the pesto over the roasted tomatoes and garnish with fresh basil. Drizzle olive oil over the burrata, season with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, and garnish with chopped roasted nuts.
  3. To serve, leave out a knife for the burrata, and forks and plates for people to assemble their crostini on. This can be customized in a million ways, so go crazy!
