This recipe is so easy, that you can do it hungover. Although I really hope you don’t have to. Delicious store bought rubs and sauces are a great time saver and the oven does all the heavy lifting for you. I served these with Kraft Mac and Cheese, fresh watermelon, and grocery store corn bread and it was about the easiest and tastiest plate of BBQ I’ve ever made.
Easy Oven Baked Ribs
Ingredients
1 rack pork spare ribs
1/4 dry seasoning blend, I like Williams Sonoma Butcher's Blend and Smokehouse Rub
1 cup BBQ sauce, plus more for serving, I like Lillie's Q Smoky Barbeque Sauce, Memphis-Style Sweet & Smoky
Vegetable oil, as needed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300 degrees.
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towel. Optional: remove the membrane from the back side of the ribs. You can opt to leave this on and it will keep the rib meat attached to the bone after it cooks, which is optimal for slicing and serving. I personally don't like the texture of the membrane, so I like to remove it.
- Spray or brush the ribs with a light layer of vegetable oil so the dry seasonings can adhere to the meat, then thoroughly coat in the dry seasonings on both sides. Once coated, tightly wrap in aluminum foil and transfer to a sheet tray. Bake for 3 hours.
- Remove from the oven and adjust the heat to 350. Remove the foil and coat the ribs in the BBQ sauce. Return to the oven and bake for another 30-45 minutes or until the sauce has caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 15 minutes before carving. Slice and serve with additional sauce.
